The Nanoparticle Process Technology (NPPT) / Winterer group performed scientific research on synthesis, processing, structure, properties and application of nanoparticles and nanostructures. We taught courses in nanotechnology, measurement science, chemical engineering and materials science and developed the novel NanoEngineering bachelor and master study program together with Gerd Bacher and Wolfgang Mertin (WET).
Our scientific goals were to generate, characterize and integrate functional nanomaterials and to discover, develop and understand corresponding processes along the process chain.
NPPT was a division of the Institute for Energy and Materials Processes, the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (MBVT) and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen until 31st of July 2026. Markus Winterer is founding member of the Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen, CENIDE.
The division / chair Nanoparticle Process Technology – the Winterer group – finished operation on 31st of July 2026 with the retirement of Prof. Dr. Markus Winterer. This webpage with its content will continue to exist and will be further developed.
